Newb smb ?

Hi. I just did steves ap method on 200g gold fingers. I cleaned the foils until till no green appeared and dissolved in hcl-cl. My AuCl3 looked liked steves from his video. The problem occurred when I added the smb. At first it went clear then it turned a yoohoo brown and is slowly settling. Is this from to much clorox?

The brown color is the gold in solution reacting with the SO2 gas created by the SMB. The brown is your gold have paitence it will settle. Does it look like the picture below?

I'm trying to but I don't know if they are getting smarter or I'm ust getting slower, I feel the latter. :mrgreen:

You can't give my secret away about my tungsten bars, I almost have a couple of them sold.

Now that its dropped what was the yield amount? I just ran my first batch of fingers (test batches) and barely have a gram before the HCL+CL steps.

Save it till you have some more to run thru the HCL/CL step.

No idea on yeild yet. Got 400 more grams of fingers soaking in ap and will weigh it all then.

600 grams of gold fingers is a little over a pound. If the fingers
were close cropped, then my guess would be that you should expect
2.5+ grams of gold when all is said and done. Depending of course
on how you did with the whole refining process on your first go around.

Post a picture and a weight when you get done amigo. 8)
