i have 5 gallons of used AR and i threw in a bunch of aluminum .now i have a big copper sponge with black streaks in it ,what is the smartest way to seperate the gold traces from the copper sludge?shuold i drain and add fresh hlc or what

Melt it into an anode and build yourself a copper cell.

copper cell uses copper sulfate with some sulfuric, anode is your impure stuff, cathode is a sheet or piece of pure copper or stainless steel. run around .3 volts.

I think I read somewhere that a slight amount of HCL help with the deposit of the copper, your values will be in the slugde, copper will sell as cathode copper - should be a good price.

sulfuric acid cell ,james is on track and ill try to not rush and be more specific next post . but i run my cell at 6volts around 1 amp
