Hi All,

I have no lab at home, but would like to get involved in some testing scenarios.
My intention is not to recover and refine at the moment. I would like to measure first.

I have prepared a shorthand instruction for a lab technician (student) to make me some standard solutions.
I will be providing the metals and the lab will donate the lab quality acids and water (for a 10ml bottle of each ).
The instructions are made for readily available grain weights available on eBay in PMs
Is there anything I need to add to clarify, the lab technician is reasonably experienced.

Attached the instruction and motivation. Thanks all for this wonderful forum.
All knowledge about this subject matter was obtained here and Hoke.

Please suggest any other Standard Solutions that would enable a better/enhanced measuring experience.

Thanks again.

[Corrections]
Correction to document below: 100 ml to 10 ml
(from the third 10 ml remove 0,4ml with a pipette if possible, or under read)

[Corrections/Additions Suggested by Members]
Westerngs: Bring up to volume with 30% HCl instead of H2O , this to enhance longevity.

1 mg/mL is standard for ICP and AA work.

I have some NIST traceables if you're in the U.S.

I would suggest diluting with 30% HCl instead of water. The solutions will last much longer that way.

You would be better off taking Lou's offer.

Hi Lou, I appreciate your generous offer.

Once Belgium becomes annexed by the USA I can take you up on that, but that will likely not happen.
Indeed high quality products would make a difference and allow super quantitative analysis as well.

Thanks, I suspect that I missed something in Hoke or this forum.
I know that the result is acidic (eg. chloroauric acid) and that the HNO3 needs to be removed,
but was not aware that bringing up to volume was best done using HCl. Thanks.

Maybe move to Flanders ( "In Flanders Fields where poppies grow...")?

.. hmm no did not miss it in Hoke .. P 93.

So HCl will keep longer .. nice..

[edit .. actually 2 questions  ]
Follow on Question ..

1. Would this additional HCl not interfere with further tests down the line when I would eg: need to neutralize the test solution to check for nickel with DMG ?
2 .Would I maybe need to overfill the spotting plate cavity ?
