I just finished 3 batches of fingers at about 10 grams.
I then treated with acid and chlorox per Steve's video.
I let settle for several minutes and did get a good bubling adding chlorox and stirred it a bit.
I then went to pour thru filters to another vessel and after all settled ended up with just a couple of black chunks which I discarded.
But ended up with I'D say maybe a half spoon of brown what looks like dirt.
Now I had not yet added any SMB to the lower vessel.
I did that and it turned very brown and is sitting till tommorrow.
My question is that all the brown mud need more treatment or impurities or what ?
I thought I cleaned the finger batches and let them dry before collecting them for this step.

You should always be careful with what you discard.
Until you are sure what it is. Sometimes gold doesn't appear gold.
Not saying that is what you discarded, but it is better to just put it aside
until later.
I agree with Ken, pictures would help out.

Well my discard was only 2 small pieces black in color.
I have not discarded the brown fine soil looking remainder.
I have it in the coffee filter waiting to decide if I should try and run it thru acid -chlx again and let it dissolve over night maybe.
The other gold powder is dissolving in the bottom of filtered thru fluid with the smb added to it and the top of it is getting fairly clear.
I think I should get a Stanous mixture to test fluid tho.

My mind keeps wandering to two small pieces of base metal that have cemented values.

Wise people don't discard ANYTHING until there has been an accounting of the values. 8)

To answer your question - Yes, you should clean the powder that was dropped. Do a search on the forum for Harold's washing method for the powder. It will still have some contamination (copper) that has followed the gold.

If it were me, I would wash the powder thoroughly, dissolve it again, precipitate, wash again, melt it.
