Can you please show us what kind of disrepect you are referring to?
Simple corrections on factual mistakes has nothing with disrespect to do.
That is just something that needs to be done.

i'll start off with, you guys have been doing a great job of not being disrespectful for quite a while. there have been a lot of newcomers who have come here, asked honest questions, and have not been gang-bullies like this for quite a while. too bad it doesn't stay that way.

how did you start? oh yes... "First, i'd like to suggest" ... there are much less condescending ways to teaching a man that his capitalization is off. even after he tells you he's using a voice dictation to send his messages.

next, whether you choose to recognize it or not, this forum IS READING. it is active reading with discussion. we all have received your introduction to hokes papers, and it is a great resource, but very out-dated. repeatedly telling people that we should stop doing what we're trying to learn and read, is not promoting anyone to learn anything. it's telling them to "JUST STOP". yes, there are instances where people are a danger to themselves and those around them. this gentleman is not one of those.

"how in the world." (repeatedly) your emotions have absolutely no place in teaching. would you use the same terms in teaching your children how to read? of course not. it doesn't promote learning, only the BULLYING that so many people have noted to a few of the moderators on here, over the years. feel free to run a search in the library and look it up. (how does that suggestion go over with you, whether well-intended or not?)

as always, martjin (mr. safety) - feels the need to step in and to pile on more webster's dictionary. how very condescending. just save it until you have an original idea on how to help.

while i believe shark's piling on was well-intended, the guy doesn't need 3 of you jumping in. to anyone trying to learn here, you're like a gang. i dare you to go back and look at all the posts where people feel attacked. you'll notice a common theme.

thank God 4metals is here. as always, a gentleman. the rest of you could learn a lot from him, not just about refining. about civility. kudos, sir.

don't mind MY critiquing. it's "just something that needs to be done."

If you re read the post you will see that this was before he said he used talk to text.
I used that terminology twice and I really can not see what is condescending about it?
And as said before we do not know the newcomers and as such not their abilities and lack thereof.
So that is used as an expression to ask them to set their solutions and gears a side while they learn and we can assess the further progress.
We have no idea of this gentleman's abilities even after he declares it.
In retrospect I see that I could use other wordings but as said before, English is not my first language.

Sorry , strannous . My screen on my phone broke a few days ago and my new phone should be here tomorrow. That’s the reasoning behind all the misspellings and grammar, I can only see half of my screen.
I did ration out the nitric. I put 150ml of HCI and 10ml nitric to start and then added 10ml each time the reaction slowed or stopped to a total of 50ml nitric.
The E scrap is from heavy coded gold pins from industrial equipment and also some Goldfingers from circuit boards. I used a sulfuric cell reverse electro plating.
I made my own Strannous from tin solder and HCI.
So enough Nitric to dissolve 40-75g of Gold so how much material did you have?
I still wonder how you arrived at 7-8 pH of the AR solution, did you neutralize with Sodium Hydroxide or similar?

Master Nater I tried to explain why we tend to nit pick on spellings and terms , you are lucky to have a good grasp of the English language which many members do not so you can understand what the OP meant but put those terms and spellings through a translator into say Arabic and what the hell it translates into could be misinformation or dangerous or both.

In the world of texting and abbreviations the science of chemistry takes a big hit. Since I am constantly texting to clients even though I am retired, I have entered an entire chemical word shortcut list into my smartphone to prevent mis-spelling chemical terms. You try to type Dimethylglyoxime 3 times and get the spelling right every time! As far as chemistry goes, it is great but if I have a Physical Therapy appointment coming up and I type in PT, Platinum is automatically inserted and sometimes I miss it. So I too am often corrected for unintentionally injecting chemical words into conversations so I get it.

As far as the forum goes, as a moderator I have a mystical power to correct or edit any thread by anyone no matter how old it is. I often will go in and simply correct a mis-spelling when I notice it because I know what they mean. But that is me, no harm, no criticism, just make it right anonymously. Unfortunately I missed stannous a few times in this thread, my apologies.

I am not saying there aren't things that irk me about how folks post on the forum, like hacking into an active thread with a totally off topic question or response. Or posting a question in an inappropriate forum. And there are a few other pet peeves of mine. But that only serves to prove one thing, I too am human!

Moving forward I will make a conscious effort to recognize posts in the beginners forum and factor that in to my response. But for now, and for the foreseeable future, let's get back to chemistry and solving the issue presented by @NickBrown and properly posted in the Beginners Gold Refining Process Forum.

After 4metals post I have edited this from its original form. Back to refining.

"while i believe shark's piling on was well-intended"

No it wasn't, it was meant to cause a pause so anyone reading this would think about why no comment was made on the other mentioned points. Quite often just a pause will bring things into a different view and cause one of those Ahha moments. If that fails, then we can try something else.

I have been known to check what forum is being posted in but quite often miss that as well.
