Hello all,
So while away the past three days, my two buckets of silver nitrate, froze..

Any issues if your silver nitrate solution freezes? I was refining 1400 grams of Silver...

As always folks thank you so much for lending me your knowledge and any schooling you're willing to share with me.

Thanks again in advance...

Likely the worst that happened was the silver nitrate crystallized out of solution. You probably have crystallized silver nitrate and silver nitrate in solution. Just let it warm up and filter it, if there are crystals they will dissolve in hot distilled water and you should be back in business.

Thank you so very much my friend.

One more question... The wash bucket i used to pour the rinses in to capture silver, any issues with it being indoors? I know the solution had a little excess nitric in it but i have a 5 gallon bucket that has solution with about 3 gallons of water in it so I imagine it diluted it and should produce fumes. It frozen as well and I'd like to thaw it so I can collect the silver in the bottom of the rinse bucket. Any issues with thawing it indoors? Any cautions i should know about?

It is not uncommon in a refinery to open a sealed lid on a 5 gallon pail and see a blanket of red NOx fumes safely contained in the bucket. The sealed lid keeps the fumes in and the fumes will not degrade the plastic for a short stay indoors. Open it when you go outside in the event there are NOx fumes in the bucket. This is not a long term storage fix but you are not talking about a lot of nitric to begin with.

There's maybe 25 to 35ml of nitric in the entire 5gal bucket of silver rinse water but it may have been used up as i left a lot of copper bars in solution to kill the excess. But, better safe then sorry.

Again thank you so much for your time and sharing all the info with me.
