Sorry, my bad. Just rechecked and the EPP licence is for the following:

Concentration threshold

These are the concentration thresholds for explosives precursors:

  • hydrogen peroxide:12% w/w
  • nitromethane: 30% w/w
  • nitric acid: 3% w/w
  • sodium chlorate: 40% w/w
  • potassium chlorate: 40% w/w
  • sodium perchlorate: 40% w/w
  • potassium perchlorate: 40% w/w
  • sulphuric acid: 15% w/w

I believe 10% works good enough.
I just bought a 1 liter bottle because i ran out and the 32% 5 liter was one day delivery from an online shop in the netherlands. All i had to say what i needed it for: 'Etching of metals'.

Its just really difficult to find someone that is selling HCl that is not Patio cleaner. Unless another member from the UK can advise on where to buy purer HCl?
Check with any masonry supply companies. It is used for cleaning brick and concrete. I'm certain they're not playing with 10% solutions.

If you want to turn that 10% into 32%, just slowly heat it in a hot sand bath in a crock pot/slow cooker. The water will evaporate out leaving the HCL behind.
Also check swimming pool supply stores, here in the US they sell it as a PH reducer, but it's just 32.5% muriatic acid, (which is just another name for HCL).

You will reach 20% that way, the azeoptrope is 21 ish %

Yeah I've ordered HCL to home address from APC and they didn't ask any questions although it was a large order for various things so they might have overlooked any regulations for profit, that was 12 months ago so not sure if things have changed since, cant hurt to ask or just place the order anyway and see what happens, worst case scenario they refund you.

Sancho, Jennychem have 32% strength but it's labelled as inhibited, Don't know what you would need to do to it if anything. I have also ordered from these in the past but they are collection only... Eurosolve (Azure Liquid Solutions) St Helens WA11 9XB
