Questions on flux

Soda ash tears up the crucible, but thins out borax a bit.
Borax, even a little bit, gets thick and gooey, then hard as glass. Plus, if it stays on the gold button, it's a b**** to get off.
Are there any other kinds of flux that are thinner, and don't eat the crucible, easier to clean off, etc., etc.?

A little fluorspar along with very little soda ash will thin out the borax flux considerably.
