Chemical Removing base metals. Nitric acid or AP or H2SO4+nitrat

I kno Hokes all about nitric acid. I'm pretty shure i seen a video of Steve tossing in sodium nitrate in H2SO4, and the. Theirs AP... Nitric acid is pretty pricey. What's your favorite method? I gota figure out what I'm going to use in 6 days !
