So I was perusing the web and ran across this published work. Published in 2022. I'm still processing this but input from you guys proves to be the intrigue of this site for sure! Thoughts?

In other words - the chemicals used to dissolve metals may "in & of them selves be "green" (safe) - but - once they dissolve metal the metal ions dissolved in those chemical make it no longer "green"

That's no different than what we already do, and regardless of where your chlorides are coming from, they are still chlorides and when added to any of the many oxidizers you still have metal chloride salts.
Doesn't seem any more green to me.
