seperating foils and junk

In a soulution of hcl and peroxide my foils were mixed with some small plastic and/or fiberglass debris thats too small and too much too pick out.

I was thinking of letting it dry and putting it in water w/soap and letting the foils drop. will this work? is there a better way?

If it were me I would just dissolve the gold foils and filter off the crap. You can use HCl-Cl or AR to get the foils into solution.

Hi Imils148:

I did a batch in HCL and H2O2 last week and they had a lot of junk in them too. I just put the whole mess in a batch of AR and let it do its thing. What don’t dissolve, you will filter out when you neutralize the solution. The gold foil will dissolve and precipitate when you add the SMB. Mine came out good. I have a new large batch going now.

I 've been avoiding the AR untill I had some more exprience( and confidence) with this. Can you direct me to more info on HCL CL is it as effective and what about disposal? how is it nuetralized?

sorry to jump in, but I've got a question..

Is SMB a precipitant for the HCL-H2O2 solution as well as the HCL-Chlorox solution?.. I'm confused.. :?

Mayhem,

SMB can percipitate gold from many solutions including acid peroxide and HCl-Cl. The great thing about these two lixivants is that you don't have to boil these solutions down or use any Urea because there's no pesky nitric acid to get in the way!!!!
