This is not a good conversion because I didn't rinse the silver well enough and there was still Hydroxide present.

IMHO fastest way to convert pure silver chloride to silver metal is to melt the chloride in alkaline medium (NaOH) is what I'm using. All AgCl should be covered with molten caustic to avoid any losses. No need to tell you that working with caustic at these temperatures is EXTREMELY dangerous
 
Cover the AgCl with 15 parts water and one part sulfuric acid. Throw in a few handfuls of zinc coated roofing nails and mix. Keep mixing. I do this in a 5 gallon plastic bucket. In about half an hour the AgCl will have all been reduced to pure cement silver. Decant the acid water and replace with tap water, then pull out the nails with a magnet. Decant as much of the water as possible, and thoroughly dry the silver in a slow cooker.
