I'm new to silver refining and would like a place to go to get advice and learn more
Welcome to us.

There is much information in here regarding Silver and the other PMs

Anyway since you will be handling Chemicals we want you to study these links.

We ask our new members to do 3 things.
1. Read C.M. Hokes book on refining jewelers scrap, it gives an easy introduction to the most important chemistry regarding refining.
It is free here on the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=19798
2. Then read the safety section of the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/forums/safety.47/
3. And then read about "Dealing with waste" in the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/threads/dealing-with-waste.10539/

Im from Scotland and have been refining Silver for three years, my advice is before you do anything read hokes book, there is a free download in this forum, safety is everything, you will need a fume hood and an Acid Scrubber and of course the chemicals which you will need which, in Scotland you will need an EPP Licence from the Home Office to obtain legally, also Sreetips has excellent videos on Youtube, I learned everything I know from him

Yeah got an EPP Licence, which was a big struggle haha and I have been watching lots of sreetips. Awesome to have someone else from Scotland here

Hi all. I don't refine anything but I work with silver. Ocassionaly I make some jewellery as a hobby. Because of using a scrap silver I have inconsistent results. I switched to using pure silver now but I still have around 500g melted scrap ( around 85% purity) and 500g of pre 1947 UK coins. Any chance to get somebody to refine it for me? Long shot I know. I'm from Falkirk btw. Thx.
