Heey guys from Philippines. I got a lot of questions. I badly needed help, suggestions and HEELP. And ADVICE. IM making stupid decisions.

1. When I precipitated Gold in the bucket using SMB, the next day only gray to white precipitate were there and the solution is still green. (Is it because I added too much SMB). Did the gold still remain in the solution?? I saw a YouTube vid showing that it just needed to be washed by HCL during filtration. Then I proceed as the usual, Making AR solution again from the filtration to refine it once again. And precipitated it with SMB. Then proceeded to melting.

2. At the melting process, the sediments were in the filter paper and carefully burned it. Not having any of them flying out. I added a few sparkles of soda ash and more borax. Much Borax it seems, and the result was black substances and less gold.

IN context I processed 600 grams of IC chips, 100 grams of gold-plated fingers and Ribbon flex from HDD. I burned the ribbon flex and IC chips and grinded it. What do you think guys??? I need help and I'm almost going to cry.

Welcome, I'm unable to post more now.
I'll be back later.

Hi, now I have better time.
First of all, you need to study, and I mean a lot.

Here is for that:

We ask our new members to do 3 things.
1. Read C.M. Hokes book on refining jewelers scrap, it gives an easy introduction to the most important chemistry regarding refining.
It is free here on the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=19798
2. Then read the safety section of the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/forums/safety.47/
3. And then read about "Dealing with waste" in the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/threads/dealing-with-waste.10539/

Suggested reading:

Next you need to separate the different scrap as they need to be processed differently.
Chips need to be pyrolized and then incinerated and gravity separated.
Gold plated PCBs and fingers are usually processed in Cupric Chloride etch aka AP before processing the foils alone.

And you really need to make some Stannous to test your solution.
Next you do not melt anything until you know it is precious, and maybe not even then.
How did you decompose the Nitric in your AR?

This should be a start.

Where are you by the way?
I'm in MisOr now.

Edit for spelling

like Cagayan De Oro? I’ve been there. I’m an American. After coming here off and on I moved here last year. I’m in Luzon about an hour south of Manila.
