in cellphones besides small black chips there are also small green chips with metallic tops and magnetic------some of these green chips have gold inside ,but most does not.
i treat this material with ar twice----the first time the gold cements probably in base metals and the ar gives blank results with stanous-for gold----but sometimes gives pd results ---------------
the second ar gives gold results in the stanous chloride tests and the gold is easily precipitated with smb------
question:why pd goes into solution(in the first ar)?
i think it would cement with the gold on the base metals
note:the first ar reaction is very strong and if one does not add nitric slowly, the solution boils over-
thanks for any replies
Arthur
note2;i call these green squares chips----but they are not really chips

That's because Pd has a lower electrode pothential then Au.
As you know, Pd won't cement very easily from mixed solution of Pd + base metals.

That's as far as i can go on this. A chemist might explain way better then me.

p.s. - i have no idea what is this green component is... i'm looking at picturs in google with no luck...
