Afternoon Gents.

I was wondering if I could use a stump remover with a high % of SMB as a precipitant in AuCl3. Good idea :idea: or Bad idea :!:

why not just make ferrous sulfate, it is easy, Iron and dilute sulfuric battery acid, I use Iron from old transformer cores, just torch off any oil or varnish rinse the Iron first.

stump out brand seems to be 98% sodium metabisulfite or sodium pyrosulfite, so it may work fine, try it on a known test just to make sure.

most of the stump removers are usually a nitrate such as potassium nitrate, these are usefull to make nitric with.
