I was told to use red devil lye that you can buy almost anywhere for the purposes of raising my ph level during the leaching process. Is this the best and most cost effective method? Thanks newbie

Avoid anything that contains aluminum, which is not uncommon for sodium hydroxide drain cleaners.

I'm sorry, I can't comment on raising the pH by that method. The only time I was faced with a similar circumstance, I used hydrated lime, but I was processing a gold ore that was run through a ball mill.

My experience is that it is better # for # for raising ph.

It can be very harmful though!

You can use baking soda, if you want to.

Make sure you take the safety factors into consideration.
