hello not good at this typing thang..
Sorry, that is how we communicate here. No talk to text that I know of.

i bin bizz with pgm's au pb ag.
Please refrain from slang as we are an international forum and words like bin (probably misspelled) and bizz do not translate well. Surely with a little effort on your part and you can do better.

That said, welcome to the forum.

hello not good at this typing thang..
but got to reach out and say hello.this place seems promising
i bin bizz with pgm's au pb ag. anyone from Texas btw?
As said already Welcome.

PGM salts are exceedingly toxic and we have members that has died from exposure from the salts.
So toxic that many professional refiners do not even touch it.

Here is a few things we like our members to study:

We ask our new members to do 3 things.
1. Read C.M. Hokes book on refining jewelers scrap, it gives an easy introduction to the most important chemistry regarding refining.
It is free here on the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=19798
2. Then read the safety section of the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/forums/safety.47/
3. And then read about "Dealing with waste" in the forum: https://goldrefiningforum.com/threads/dealing-with-waste.10539/

Hey I'm up in mckinney. I've been finding epathermal deposits in Collin alluvial gravel. Lots of sulfide just working out of host matrix lots of copper. Various blue quartz, Blue .and, yellow, clear topaz.. Also clear zircon , black spinel, white sapphires. Agate opal nodules also grow out of the same host epathermal ores. Lots of forest green to sea foam green feldspars. Try around lake lavon.

You'll have to forgive me but I do things a little differently and I've never seen in person. Anyone do any of this except for me. So what do I got? I started with lead. Can anyone help?

Hi all i am new here, i join this forum to learn from you. In the mean time please ask me anything.
So I'm well I don't know how to put it. Never seen anybody do Melody g. Or process or or anything in person but I've been trying to for the past couple years and I started with lead yesterday. This is what I got. Am I tricking myself I've had some essays done on a little bit of my ore and I had silver, gold and pgms but I just want to be sure I'm actually collecting them into my lead. That is how it's supposed to look right that it's not just some think I'm going to take to my refiner and get shot down because I will not do that again if anyone could help. And you are an engineer or processing, correct? Please pardon me if there's any typos or weird phrases I use. Talk to text and I'm dyslexic. So please ask for clarity if necessary

As 4metals say, it do not look like anything specific other than a melted blob of Lead dropped on the ground or something similar.
So please explain more in detail as we really are very poor at reading minds.

As said more details, as this looks just like more blobs of Lead.

How do you treat your ore?
How do you mix your flux with the ore?
How do you smelt your ore?

And so on.
As detailed as you can please.

Yeah my last assays I had ruthenium in the ore started having cough attacks when polishing the nuggets and was extremely itchy. Anytime I messed with the ore I had to box that up till I get some better equipment and I've just been playing with gold and silver for the most part. I think using different collectors trying to learn this yellow tent and some of my collectings my lead collectors pretty sure I still have some pgms. And yeah kind of came across the PGM salts when I was trying to remove lead with lye wish I would have found this place a little sooner. I've done some pretty ignorant things but learned a lot and was very safe in my processes. I would like to believe I'm fairly blessed. I have not had a phone or any sort of technology in a couple weeks. Just came in the mail so thank y'all!

We might or usually start with campfire roast between 400 and 600 for an hour or two immediately. Scorching crushing roasting a little more if needed. Try to get down to fine powder then I make a roast mix which usually is mainly just a bunch of flour which I roast in a cast iron skillet. Tossing and oxidizing anything off and for about 45 minutes until it doesn't smoke anymore. And I have a black to reddish fine orecollectings I guess. And I washed that sometimes. I'll just depending mainly when I was learning and studying a lot. I did something way different in the collecting process this time and kind of more towards treated it like like an arc furnace would produce steel kind of having the molting lead pool and then pouring in my powder little by little I really got annoyed with fluxes so I kind of re-engineered an HHO torch and a Jeweler's torch combination HHO torch didn't have enough BTU to really get what I was wanting done fast enough without using flux. So I was studying different torches and I realized I could really customize my flame with different mixtures of stable flammable gas materials in my flashback reservoir as long as the vapor was the flammable part and liquid was not. I started playing with different ratios of gasoline and alcohol and alcohol and ethanol and just different mixtures to really customize flame so my thoughts are at least now that could all just be BS and I really have no clue what I'm talking about. I've only really had AI to consult with. I believe it's bonsai deposits I'm getting my order from. It's usually creekside smell like sulfur metamorphic rock iron caseing powders like I said I've had several essays done. I just I never knew where to begin and don't know where to end and I just haven't seen it done so I don't know if I'm even kind of barking up the right tree in the processing that I'm doing because I mean I'm pretty sure alone the ledge shouldn't stick around for how long I keep alone in HHO torch but a petroleum fuel oxy torch

I think it is wise to read Bugbee's book on fire assaying so get an idea on how and why we do what we do.

I altered my oxyhydrogen torch to be like a jewelers torch so it's a oxy fuel hydrogen torch using about 80 gasoline and 20 99% alcohol in my flashback container took a chunk of lead and threw it in a pile of fine ore concentrates that I had made from campfire roast to crush to tell them powder to then roasting again. Cast iron tossing until with a flux recipe. Mainly flour. Trying to burn off anything and I roast up 45 minutes fine powder washed. It was black powder kind of came back darkish red the powder and blasted with my torch for a couple hours I keep in mind it is an oxy torch so in the right conditions it can really oxidize. It can be as hot as hydrogen depending on how you have it adjusted. So I mean and getting easily hot enough to melt iron even stainless. Give it a littl

But I did kind of start off with a pool of lead that I slowly poured the powder into. Kind of thinking like a arc furnace. Refining stainless flag stays on top by scrape it off mini metal drops on into the lead. Just keep stirring and heating. And sprinkling no messy glassy flux excess little bubbles to try to squeeze out of it to try to get it all to collect. Just kind of pours into the lead in theory. Like I said, haven't sent these off to be tested or anything. Was kind of curious about the tent different colors. I never had any of the lead to do that before I did this to it so I was just kind of curious cuz I know. I thought I've had gold several times and it just looked like you know it was. Chemically bull crap but nothing quite like this so I really been wanting to get anyone that is actually watched. This process happen opinion like an actual piece of lead being used as a collector I'm also confused because everyone's like oh if you possibly have PGMs Don't copil the light off and I don't understand why so I'm not trying to to mess anything up, I'd usually try to have somewhat of a clear understanding before I make my next move. But I just don't know and I don't have anybody to ask. I just hear the next phrase. I don't recognize on YouTube and start learning it sucks really because I find myself confused over with simple things that I should know but I just have not had brought to my attention in the right order. I guess the best way to put it.

I hope this doesn't sound rude but this sounds to me like you took a huge hunk of lead and blasted it with miscellaneous ore at about 2500c... likely vaporizing the lead which happens close to 1800c.

I have not worked with ore but that sounds like a really good way to inhale a ton of lead vapor if you don't know exactly what you're doing... Not to mention arsenic or other toxic volatiles that may have been in the ore...

Allen, I have moved your posts here since you hijacked some one else's thread
I am sorry I'm just learning how to use the site. Thank you. Please understand that I've been dying to communicate with anybody about this field for a few years now and actually having somebody respond with a little bit of knowledge on what I just said and how ignorant it sounds because they understand the basics of chemistry and fire. and general torch knowled is the first time ever for me so please be patient as I refine my tech skills along this journey

That's exactly what I thought was happening. And yeah don't breathe in those fumes. Those those ones aren't good. They don't make you feel good or nothing okay so don't even try it. Trust me I'm going to get a welding helmet that has an AC in it sometimes I can only run at night here in Texas but thank you so much for that comment That's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. Thank you. I know I'm not crazy by thinking that's what was going on, but I'm actually collecting some platinum because it hits silver and plus just the instantaneous evaporation with the platinum or around kind of causes it to still work as a collector for the platinum. Or as long as I'm using the good torch I'm assuming
