i have solder scrap and wanted to obtain some tin from it-----i boiled the scrap with hcl until the solution became red(violet , pink).i filtrated this solution and to the filtrate i added sulfuric acid to form insoluble lead sulfate. i filtrated the solution again to hold the pbso4 in the filter paper-----to this still pink solution left, i added iron to cement the tin.
i dried this tin powder , but with a magnet i found that it was magnetic-------so i think that i have a mixture of iron oxide with tin oxide----what to do now?---i want to separate the tin from the iron to make tin chloride for testing pms
thanks for help
