i have tryed a salt cell today ,and the result were pretty bad.. the black thing (dark purple) in the second picture is some kind of hydroxide (not gold hydroxide)i have reduced ph and solution went clear and tested negative for gold... also on the cpu gold was still untouch...Photo 172.jpgPhoto 173.jpg

i will try something else tomorow...

Oxalic acid is a carcinogen so I would stay away from it.

In europe it isn't. Maybe buy it there?

By the way, DMG is highly toxical and carcinogen in Denmark, in Germany it isn't. I think it's best always to tend to treat all powders and fluids in the lab as if they were highly toxical. Chemicals do not mind local regulations.

i have tryed this morning ,to mix naclo and hcl in the oposite proportion on kovar pin and result is very disapointing... got a big chlorine smelling mess with test negative for gold...

let see what Geo experiment will bring as result

this is the anode/cathode(the one that make cl2) i used. all graphite. it is a simple block drilled to the size on the graphite rod, the graphite rod is covered by electric tape ,it had worked pretty well for experimentation so i guess that i could be worth sharring if other wanna try for themself...Photo 177.jpgPhoto 178.jpg

In the presence of strong oxidizers stannous may fail, I read somewhere on the forum. I would drive off the chlorine from a little probe by heating and repeat the test once more.

no need to... gold havent even started to dissolve from the pins ,end you are problably right as stannous chloride may not work in a basic solution(i didnt think of that)
