I acquired these from the trash at my last job at a Semi-conductor company. You see, they were trying to roll out 5S at the particular site I was working at (worked in Facilities) and if anyone has been through a 5S roll out you know what happens; everything gets $hit canned. Being in facilities I was had the privilege of assisting the Quality and Test Group in their purge and when all was done I noticed these in a trash bin, just below the rim, so they were trash. While I was consolidating the trash for the cleaners later that day I “saved” these from the dump so I could ID them.

Anyone have any idea what they are and what type of metal they might contain?

Thanks,
Turtle

I guess some basic investigative work would help narrow down the metal. If you could post exact dimensions and exact weight it would be a place to start. Someone here may be will figure the approximate density for you.

Does it feel heavy for its size?

Is the metal soft or hard. Will it scratch with a screwdriver?

Will it dent if you hit it with a hammer?

Can you gouge pieces out of it?

Is it magnetic? Strongly, weakly or not at all.

Do you have any testing fluids available to you.

Just a few questions to start the ball rolling.

It "looks" like stainless steel to me. My opinion on what it looks like does not mean much however. Just an observation based on the photo's.

That is what I initially thought also, however it should have more injection jets.Do you recall there being some type of gasket between them?

Do they have a grey metallic color to them? From the pics it looks like they might be stainless steel which is also barely/not magnetic.
