The can was probably tin plated inside. Tin melts @ 450F, copper melts at closer to 2000. Unlikely your wood fire got hot enough to melt the copper. Any alloying would be with the Sn.

They were gold filled and I cut them in pieces about two to three inch’s long. It left most of the pieces whole. A few broke up due to the amount of air pressure I used in the AP. I like to have the air bubbling as vigorous as I can without overly splashing the solution.

I'd incinerate/roast it and then try a HCl bath to see if it dissolves anything. If it is filterable then roast it again and go to Nitric again. Next time start with Cupric Chloride aka AP.
