I purchased a number of metal detectors for (me) or ughh my kids for Christmas. Yesterday while my kids were out I snuck out with my neighbor who is an experienced gold panner from Colorado. We visited the Vulture mine and he puchased my first gold pan for me for Christmas. The Vulture mine is open to visitors but they do not allow us to prospect there. We did some metal detecting in the surrounding area and visited another working mine called Ghost town mine which we viewed from the car. Then we made our way up to Prescott for some gold panning lessons in one of the creeks. All in all a fun and educational day for us and a friends puppy who I am watching for the holidays. We also google earthed various possible areas to prospect in the future.
We found:
1- AA battery
1- piece of buried fence post
1 remote control car
1- piece of flat steel
many brass casings
1- spent lead
Not bad for my first day.
