Hey all, I've been looking for various material for a charmin plug. It's been really hard trying to find some fiberglass or something similar. Specialty shops have been kind of hit and miss. So when I was in Wal-Mart today I ran across their Halloween isle. They have the spiderweb material that you can decorate with. So far so good, and I spent a whole two dollars for 200 sq ft.

Can't find fiberglass? I would bet there is some poking out of the walls of your house or garage somewhere. Any building supply will sell you a lifetime supply roll really cheaply. It's usually pink or yellow, looks like cotton candy.

Actually, that's not the kind the I was looking for. I did find what I needed it a boat repair shop. I was thinking that stuff clumps when saturated or doesn't hold its shape well. I could be wrong though.

It works well, just don't pack it too tight.

I've had my fill of all types of fiberglass, and I'll never go near it again (on purpose, anyway).

It breaks into tiny pieces and gives splinters that you can't see without a magnefying glass. When you pull them with tweezers, they break off and leave a smaller piece in your hand, which you will feel every time you touch something, for the next couple of days. Drives me nuts.

And do not get any in your eyes!

It's best to wear goggles when handling it, and use the "dust proof" kind, which have air baffles on the sides, rather than just a bunch of air holes. These kind are also better for refining, as they prevent tiny splatters of acid from flying inside them (and, for those who may be new to refining---no matter how careful you are, there are always tiny splatters of acid).
