Cool thanks.get the 1" size, it will give you more CFM.

delboy9891, I could suggest a vacuum valve, you need a vacuum however a slight reduction in vacuum may slow the velocity of the fume going through your system. In my situation, we are installing Column Scrubbers with Glass Barrel media to slow down and diffuse the fume.Easy enough to put a vacuum guage on it, like I said this will be the most important piece of equipment I will ever have, safety first, the other thing I am studying at the moment is safely dealing with the waste, when I am confident of that only then will I start refining
you can neutralize any waste to pH of 7Easy enough to put a vacuum guage on it, like I said this will be the most important piece of equipment I will ever have, safety first, the other thing I am studying at the moment is safely dealing with the waste, when I am confident of that only then will I start refining
Yes after having dropped most of the Hydroxides.you can neutralize any waste to pH of 7
Those are nice columns, how tall are they? As suggested a vacuum valve to slow down the airflow to better match the flow generated by the eductor with the size of the column. Remember the retention time for the fume in the column is what makes this work. And all glass gives the advantage of seeing the color of the fume to determine when you need new chemistry.we are installing Column Scrubbers with Glass Barrel media to slow down and diffuse the fume.
Hi Peter, could you please provide some information on the eductor you are using with that pump in the video please. I am in the process of setting up a scrubber and love the simplicity of yours. I have a pump on the way with very similar specs to the one you have used. Im thinking of ordering one of these https://www.spaparts.com.au/waterway-gunite-venturi-jet-with-extension-nozzle im just not sure if the 40mm pipe size will matter! i am also going to purchase some variations in the nozzle sizes. 1/4, 5/16 and 7/16.If you need any more info, just ask...

Thank you, i have hung around here for quite some time and read lots of really interesting and insightful things. I have just never felt like i had done enough reading to post questions.Welcome
Yes, I'm curious if those would work as well.i got some of these to go in the scrubber i am building! are they ok? i haven't seen anyone using ceramic rings, i also got some bio balls as well
Thanks for the reply, they work, perlite too. It's best to get #3 or larger though and you'll need to do some research on humidity. Too dry with those and the absorption will not be good. Eventually the fumes will create enough moisture, so it'll work out sooner or later.
Have you considered activated charcoal? there's theres good reason for it's fame.
You can make it yourself, but you need a metal drum with a lid or something. It's pretty much a product of incomplete combustion. It's WAYYYYYY better to just buy some. In part because the danger with incomplete combustion is that when everything gets right, it goes boom! Some people just burn wood and use the leftovers but that not efficient and it's also not activated charcoal, it's mostly just unburned wood so you don't get those benefits.
A benefit of a good activated charcoal system is that in theory, obviously not in practice one could vent the fumes right in thier face and breath easy. That would be incredibly stupid but that's how well it works, done right.
For extraction I truly believe DIY is best if you know how to make stuff and do electrical and such. because for the money anyone with those skills can outbuild any commercially available system. I'm a true believer in overbuilt extraction systems.
I'll just toss this out there for those who like to mess around.i got some of these to go in the scrubber i am building! are they ok? i haven't seen anyone using ceramic rings, i also got some bio balls as well
OH shoot. Sorry. I totally got in the wrong section. this was for something else. I*'m sorry. I'm going to see if I am able to delete my reply. Again my apologies. Dumb mistake on my part. Thanks for the reply,
Im not sure i understand about the humidity, these will be sitting in a tube filled to 90% volume with sodium carbonate solution or Sodium Hydroxide.
Have i miss interpreted what you where saying?

Geoff
