Hi

I know memory has gold on them. Dose video, modem, sound and netork cards have gold on them too? Also dose the floppy and ide plugs have gold on the pins?

Jack

First of all I'm new to this and I'm 63 not much to do. I have 2 network cards that look like it is all gold plate even under the green paint. If so do I need to remove all the green paint? And when I try to remove the gold will it remove what it is plate on too. By the way I'm going to remove all the parts and do I need to remove all the silver spots on the card?

You should look into trimming the gold fingers and possibly selling the rest. I don't do whole boards because of all the waste you end up with. Trimming the fingers is easy and they are easy to process.
Trying to do whole boards makes it less of a hobby and more of a hassle.

I usually take a pair of shears and cut them off of the card. Save them up until you have a pound or so of them. In the meantime, you can go to http://www.goldrecovery.us/ and watch some FREE videos of the refining process for these "fingers".

EDIT: Go to the place where is says "Show AP videos". that is where you will learn about processing the fingers.

I trim the fingers off with Fiskar's electrician's shears. You cut just after the gold ends on the fingers.
There are pictures on the forum of fingers to see what I am saying, and others ways to trim them.

Then you save them up until you have a few pounds of fingers to process with AP. All that is here on the forum also. I average 2 grams of gold per lb. of fingers, so I like to have a few lbs. before I process them.

You have a lot of studying to do, but thats OK you can accumulate more gold fingers and pins while you learn.
