The cpu's that are solid don't seem to let go of their pins very easily, as in not at all. Was able to easily remove pins, on the advice gleaned from the board of course, from the fiber based cpu's with a pen torch and a simple wipe. However, the ceramic (?) based cpu's obviously do not have a solder base to which the pins are attached, and even when I set fire to one, unintentionally, still the pins would not release. Should I just incinerate or is there another good way?

By the way, as I'm feeling so inventive today, the last pic is of the incinerator I built based on a rocket stove (on small amounts of steroids of course). Uses a few blocks of wood, runs 20 minutes, and turned about a pound of flat chips white. Tim the Toolman Taylor would be proud of me I think...

Some good information on processing ceramic cpu's:

Thank You Phil!

I try to be as safe as possible, though sometimes.....

I did find today that my little incinerator will "do" a pound of ic's in 10 minutes or so with basically 8 small blocks of wood, figure 2x4's cut to 8 inch lengths. Not much fuel at all for the result I think.
