You dont need a degree to love rocks and know what they look like. The best prospectors I know were all a bunch of junkies.
Sadly that is the option we have.I understand Karen and Nancy can make little sense. They are a bit USA slang/vernacular. I thought my descriptions though would be clear, albeit the whole thing a bit humorous. Good humor carries truth. Anyhow, for a long I've both admired and wondered about the patience and tolerance shown to the occasional 'can't be helped' visitor. Such people don't just have rocks about which they supect/hope have value. The 'can't be helped people' are 1) sure their item is greatly valuable and 2) that you could tell them the easy, do it yourself, at home, easy way, to separate the precious contents. However, if asked questions, say what what they have is impossible, ask where the item was found - anything off their track - as someone said earlier and better than im doing - outside their state of mind - no matter how truly correct and helpful - they see you as denying them their rightful place among the respected/honored/rich/etc., and in frustration/anger they 'explode' into vitriol. I think it better for all involved, when such a person is recognized, to quit trying to help them. What they need is professional help wg their mental state. Professional help (ie guidance offered here) with the issue they ask about is asking for trouble, and just deepens their mindset about how unfair/unjust/biased the world is. I think trying to continue to help past the point we've said 'we don't deal with rocks and minerals. We only deal with recovering metals from manufactured items' is a good point to ignore them, or perhaps there is a better resolution - but banning seems to me an aggravating act - makes such mindset more likely to, in some fashion, someday, explode.
