When they finally audit Fort Knox, and the assay comes in at 100% Fe plus pile of empty gold spray paint cans, how high will the price of Au spike?
That is an old chemists joke, although not exactly funny, more like a trick question. Argon and Lithium can never form a chemical bond. So I guess it perfectly describes 2 whomever, [you fill in the job title], that can never get along.of a bunch of Lithium Argons
I guess we'll have to see if it actually happens; I'm not convinced it will, even less convinced that if there's a massive deficit, the truth would be revealed. But a man can dream...When they finally audit Fort Knox, and the assay comes in at 100% Fe plus pile of empty gold spray paint cans, how high will the price of Au spike?
CHALLENGE: ACCEPTED!!! *Alondro blows up New Jersey trying to force the atoms together.... there is much rejoicing.*That is an old chemists joke, although not exactly funny, more like a trick question. my first attempt at what i thought was original chemistry humor. i'll try harder. you know, give it a little mohs. ??? better? That is an old chemists joke, although not exactly funny, more like a trick question. I have to admit I'm struggling a bit with the "slang" language of the newer generations.I asked the guy sitting next to me if he had any Sodium Hypobromite…
He said NaBrO
But we are getting off topic here.....
Now we're making bad chemistry jokes because all the good ones Argon
Most languages spoken today are considered "alive" because it is actively spoken by a community of people and adapting to new situations, or evolving. In the '50's if you said to an older person something was cool they would have assumed you meant cold, not the current first interpretation as being intensely good. So that word evolved in my lifetime. It is happening all around us. Ask someone what woke means and you will get many different definitions so that word, woke, is still evolving from its original meaning of awareness of social injustices. So it happens all around us, surely there are words in Norway that evolve as well.I have to admit I'm struggling a bit with the "slang" language of the newer generations.
hmm...i put the problem differently....When they finally audit Fort Knox, and the assay comes in at 100% Fe plus pile of empty gold spray paint cans, how high will the price of Au spike?
Post factual era, I like that. I prefer facts and I will gladly openly discuss issues when both sides have factual awareness. This habit does not come from my political background but from my training as a scientist. In today post-factual era, first virally spread message spread the "truth" even if it is fake and untrue. People don´t fact check or reality-check anything anymore. And the 1 % that does cannot reverse the damage 99% will do.
I like that paragraph, but not what it implies, mostly because the implication seem to get more and more true as the SoMe grows.Post factual era, I like that. Whenever there is any "debate" about current politics or state of affairs, or just any of today´s "hot topics" for daily experts on war, who become the experts on medicine tomorrow... I always ask if we/they can agree on basic facts, on which whole discussion is built. Because if we want to discuss or fight over any topic, we must agree on basic facts.Post factual era, I like that. When the new administration here at GRF took over the use of likes for threads struck me for the first time, as the old forum did not have likes or dislikes to express ones feelings about a post. I generally use it as a method of letting someone I have seen their post and if I disagree I will post accordingly. But if the world ran like this forum we would have a mechanism to take down falsehoods and discuss options. In refining like anything else there are many roads that can lead you to the same result. Some may prefer stripping gold plated pins in a sulfuric cell and I prefer the cyanide approach. We both get to the same place in the end and as long as we can make clear the pro's and con's of each approach we can get along. It seem like facts have no meaning anymore as it is the number of likes that cements the degree of trust worthy ness.
Agreed, but then I was not referring to this forum, but rather the world at large. When the new administration here at GRF took over the use of likes for threads struck me for the first time, as the old forum did not have likes or dislikes to express ones feelings about a post. To put this in perspective of likes, the number of likes a member has matters not to me, it is the content of the posts. I believe the forum ownership somehow manipulates likes to get more posts and attract more advertisers and in that way more income. It is up to us, the folks who post and fact check posts to keep this place a factual and a trusted resource. In our own little way, we make this place trustworthy.
Because if we want to discuss or fight over any topic, we must agree on basic facts.
If we cannot, we cannot discuss. We can only argue inconstructively.
