Good to hear! Congrats. Is this continuing on your introduction thread?I'm getting there had all kinds of issues from crusible issue to to much flux to all kinds of stuff but it is coming together
Not enough information.Yes so when I try the bars it is not getting solid all the way through. What could that be not enough gold or im lacking something else?
Not sure what you mean with trying the bars.Yes so when I try the bars it is not getting solid all the way through. What could that be not enough gold or im lacking something else?
So I wash everything and I am just processing the small stuff at the moment all the real fine gold that could be the reason. The way I was told though is that the real fine stuff makes bars to. Maybe I'm just not putting enough. I am using Chapman flux. Thanks for commenting and helping I appreciate it!Not enough information.
Is it the "nuggets" in your introductory?
How do you treat them before smelting and what is your flux.
That would be a start I guess.
So I don't have a cone I am just smelting and pouring into a mold. Is that not correct? Not sure what you mean with trying the bars.
If you're smelting, a cone mold will collect the metal in the bottom leaving flux on top.
It works but a cone mold is better as the metal collects in a smallish point (cone shaped button)So I don't have a cone I am just smelting and pouring into a mold. Is that not correct?
As said a collector metal like lead or bismuth helps to gather the precious and base metals in the bottom. Your flux needs to be right for the material you're smelting. It needs to be fluid enough and have some convection in the crucible so all the material passes the pool of metal in the bottom. So I don't have a cone I am just smelting and pouring into a mold. Is that not correct?
