i have a gold ring it is hallmark 14 kt.ge. espo i have tested it several times with a tri electronics g- 24 tester and it reads 10kt every time i even filled it am i doing something wrong or is it marked wrong

My friend google found this tid bit.

14 kt GE , means it has a very thin layer of 14kt gold over it ( gold electroplated ) ESPO was an Us brand , famous in the 60's and 70's
