I have 2 samples of gold that have both been precipitated with ferrous sulfate; one sample dissolves in aqua regia immediately (within minutes) , the other sample has to be heated and dissolves real slow. how come it dissolves so slow . they both test positive with the stannous chloride test?

They both require you to do some reading on safety and learning what is going on. And how to lean from the forum you just joined.

Start by telling us a little about yourself.
Maybe even tell us where or which "Youtubewillkill" video you watched.

Please learn exactly what you are doing before using dangerous acid.

Tell us a bit about the 2 samples. Like what are they and what you did so far.

I see you are a new member & I want to welcome you to the forum - you have just found the absolute very best source of information in the world on how to recover & refine PMs (gold, silver & platinum group metals) --- up until now you can figure that any information you have read &/or seen is most likely filled with ether misinformation &/or incomplete information - meaning you still have a lot to learn --- the first & for most thing is safety - you are working with toxic & corrosive chemical that produce toxic & corrosive fumes & waste (you "CAN NOT" do this safely in your home - that includes in the basement &/or an attached garage) & that is just the beginning of what you need to know

There for I am going to point you to a couple of things you "NEED" to read to get you started on the right foot here

Frist you need to read this  http://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=19074

Also you should read this  http://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=21374

& you need to down load & read this book  http://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=19798

& be sure to go through the safety section of the forum & do some reading there

Again - welcome to the forum

Kurt
