Sadly you won't find much gold in screens, there may be small amounts of Indium which you could try to go after but its not easy. Phone shops usually know the value of their waste as there's a decent market for the gold-bearing parts.

Yeah I’m trying to work something out with him he has access to a ton of e-scrap. I went in on a whim and he gave me a ton of them so I figured I’d just rip all the ribbon out and do those just for the experience

The old saying "The best things in life are free" wasn't said by a refiner doing e-scrap!
very true ripping these things apart is insanely time consuming, but the experience from beginning to end is amazing for me I’m sure it’s just the honeymoon phase. It’s hard to find a reliable source for e-scrap at a reasonable price, so for me finding it for free is amazing. I’m a lobsterman by trade so a little hard work doesn’t scare me, as long as I’m not in the North Atlantic this time of year is far more uncomfortable 🤣.

A perfect example of refiners helping refiners. Sure wasn’t like that when I was learning! The GRF is a good thing!
It really is I’m so impressed with this community GRF has to be one of the most friendly and knowledgeable communities I’ve ever come across, thank you everyone.

Correction on this- I have just learned that the Indium Tin Oxide in LCD screens can be recovered quite easily using an Oxalic acid leach. Apparently a kilo of screens contains around 100g of ITO.
