So I have tried to make nitric acid I'm new to this whole gold refining scrapper thing I mean I have a lot of circuit board parts and also have the things that I need to make nitric acid using muriatic acid and hi yield stump remover and add the copper but I can't seem to make nitric acid the furthest that I believe I have gotten is making the brownish fumes and after even letting it sit it does nothing please some any suggestions I have been trying for months

Do you have a picture of this "stump remover" bottle... something doesn't sound right.

Can you share where you got the info about the steps you followed?

A bit of information.
HCl and Nitrates do not make Nitric, it makes what we call poor mans AR(Aqua Regia).
To make Nitric you need Nitrates and Sulfuric acid.
Depending on your use your recipe might work depending that the stump remover are a Nitrate not a Sulfite.
I guess it is Nitrate since you got brown fumes.
And please study some so you get the bits and pieces by their correct names.
