After you click on "Private Message" you do not need to add a name in the box.All you need to do is type the message and hit send.

I tried and all it says is The requested users to be added do not exist.

Did you spell it correctly? Is it gold4... or is it golf4...

When you have message user not defined try this:
-use anti malware program to check your system
-clean browsing history - cookies (I cleaned everything)
run full antivirus scan just to make sure your pc is clean. You can alternatively swich to different browser (mozilla, chrome, IE, opera)

I had similar problem on one of my pc but it was sorted out when i run ad aware scan and deleted cookies.
