new to the gold refinning and got alot of computer boards and fingers. i'm looking to make a electric gold stripping cell. i'm not sure how to do it or what solution to use. i don't want to use sulfiric acid or hydrochloric acid... just a good gold removing solution...preffer if it would flake off and sit in the bottom of the dish.
any help would be appriciated and please...dumb it down this is the first time i've tried to do this and want it to be a success.

ok what exactly is hcl...i read a few of the pages that link brought up and i'm a little confused...what is hcl?...where do i get it?...and if i read this right it doesn't disolve the gold. right? and if hcl disolves cooper than actually i have a solution of disolved cooper and gold flakes? i see that i would work on fingers but what about boards and ram chips?

Hi Duncan!
HCl is the same as Muriatic acid, (a.k.a. concrete cleaner). You can buy it a Home Depot, Lowe's... It does'nt disolve gold by itself, BUT, if an oxidizer is added to it, it will. HCl will not dissolve copper either, BUT, if you add peroxide, it will.

You need to do some research & plenty of reading on the AP process before you continue.
Here is a good place to start:

Also, read Hoke's!

Take care and be safe!
