This is my first time on this forum, please excuse the dumb questions, I am a newbie to this.

I am starting my own Gold scrap jewellery business and would like to learn how to melt my gold after into small bars.

I have found a small electric furnace and would like to know what is the process to melt the gold jewellery.

As it is mosly 18k gold and is around 75% pure gold, by melting it in the furnace, what happens to the other 25%, how do you seperate it once it is melted or is there a proces you must follow before o help seperation of metals?

Thanks in advance.

When you melt the gold?
It melts, right along with the gold. If you use an oxidizing flame, some of it is lost to oxidation, which ruins the quality of the gold, so it's no good until refined.

You are a perfect candidate for following my advice. It's advice I hand out regularly---because no one should have to say the same things over and over daily when it's already in print and easy to understand.

Read Hoke's book.
