I just wanted to share this with all of you guys and gals. Wow, am I'm missing something or is it just crazy what people will buy on Ebay. Current bid is over $1000
My question is why did the mizar m24 pick it up as 24k?

I would have to say the plateing is 24K. Albeit much thinner than most metal plating applications. I regulary see these cards adverised on Ebay as 23-24K gold plated. I'm pulling a number out of my hat, but 0.06 cents per square inch rings a bell as to the value of these types of plateing. Collector value in play here?

Mizar tells you it's 24k because cardboard is non conductive. For this reason, it tells you the plating is 24k without considering the «filler» material.

The names on the 3 cards are included in the list of a series sold by the Danbury Mint. The Herb Pennock card isn't listed in the link below, but it is in the original list. Since these 3 are fairly obscure names, I would assume the 113 cards in #160317002383 are definitely the Danbury Mint cards.

Danbury Mint is presently selling gold cards for $12.95 each. The question is, of course, how much gold is there. They are said by Danbury to be made from thin, embossed 22K gold foil. This could be anything. I would guess they are gold leaf on copper backing. They may have a collectors value but, as far as gold is concerned, I would bet it is minimal. If it is gold leaf, figure about $.035 per square inch of surface area.

Why it tested 24K is anybody's guess. I'm not big on electronic gold testers.
