Just a heads up.
The one obstacle most of us struggle with, is to get our hands on material to refine.

Welcome to the forum

Many a small jeweler refines gold using the inquartation method and nitric parting to process small quantities. The method can give you back in excess of .995 fine gold with the impurities being copper and silver. Since you will likely make more alloy by adding copper and silver to make more jewelry it should not be an issue. And small lots of gold alloy (as in less than half an ounce of karat) are easy to process.

Follow the link in my signature line below to the library. There are discussions there as well as decent video's for you to watch.

Thanks and you're right I am less concerned with left over silver and copper. I'll take a look at the videos and books.
My supply is likely to initially be cpus for now. I think there will be an additional marketing/price boosting factor to being able to ID the cpus the gold came from.

Are e-waste your only source?
You will need tons of e-scrap to get enough Gold to produce jewelry.

Using e-scrap to generate gold for jewelry making will generate a lot of waste for ounces of gold. If you had a few cash for gold parties and offered 90% for gold testing on the stone you will generate gold faster with less waste.

If you already have a store as a jeweler it is easier to buy the goods over the counter. Your statement above doesn't exactly define what point you are in your pursuit.

That would be ideal..but recycling anything would work towards that effort.if there are better options to look for.

Buying gold is fine but I'm not producing only gold products so I don't need enough to make a lot of pieces. I'm looking to learn how to recycle enough to make a few pieces a year.

This is more of an interesting hobby that might tie into making jewelry but not my main goal. Recycling essentially trash adds a lot more value to the piece than recycling another piece of jewelry or buying gold that I can't Id where it came from, I don't seem ppl I sell too reducing that concern only increasing it.
