Doing some silver refining with nitric and distilled. Have done this 100's of time but have never seem this before. I'm looking for some education on what's happening.
Typically as the silver is attacked going into solution, you see an orange brown colored vapor rise. What I see is happening here is a white color vapor forming under the brown vapor and pushing the brown to the top and the vessel forming a white cloud of vapor. You can hear a slight pop in the liquid and watch the white vapor form.
I am using a different nitric acid as well. This from a different company and is 69%.
Probably nothing special but what interested in being educated as white vapor is new to me. Always brown vapor I've seen.
As always thank you all very much for any and all education you are willing to share.
CHEERS!!
