Hello everyone hope all your refining dreams are panning out

I had a very strange thing happen today
I set up to do the last of my pocealen capped gold plated chips with brand new H2SO4 (says professional strength and is a clear liquid
I ran a extension cord from my 12 v plug on my generator, negative to my stainless pot and the positive to my said material (gold plated chips)
Now as most of you know I have neen doing these this way for awhile but today I had smoke coming of my positive clip
And when dropping the deplated chip in the rinse water I heard a sizzle
I checked my temperature over and over 83°f ,even checked with my gloved hand on the outside of the pot
Then it got worse I thought I heard popping in the pot(if I had to compare it to something I would say it sounded like steam explosions but no bubbles on the surface of my sulfuric.

One thing for sure the clip and the chip were way to hot

Has anyone ever experienced this could it be my generator was putting out the wrong voltage (I need to find my ohm meter but I have learned not to look for things in the middle of a process)

Any ideas or ...would be appreciated
Ps there were a few pieces at the end that deplated way to quick like from 45 seconds down to 10 seconds

Thanks steyr223 rob

Check the clip where the wire is crimped to it. Sounds like it may be corroded and creating a lot of resistance. The popping sound would be arcing between the corroded wire and the clip.

You may just need to crimp on a new one.

Right on guys I thought the connection was he problem but I just put new clips on I will check the rest
I usually never put more thanbthe tip of my clip in but it did get completely submerged this time

Thanks steyr223 rob
