poor man's ar reaction

I am processing about 2lbs of filters in poor man's AR ,i have done this several times but this time the reaction is differant.
first i incinerated the filters first and the slowly added all of the filters and the AR turned a green ash color /hints the copper ok ,but the 300ml of AR is bubbling .
Is the ashes causing this or is there another reason for this reaction ?

Ash from paper will contain potassium carbonate and other possible carbonates so I could see CO2 being released.

any soap involved? accidently? this could be an acid base reaction, especially with the incinerated papers. Experts?
