poor man's ar

Is it true that you can mix a batch of poorman's and let it sit 24-48 hours and it will be ready to go? I read a post from lasersteve that you just mix it and boil until it turns orange. Will both ways work?

I just add the nitrate of choice stir to dissolve add the stuff I want to dissolve.
