Sodium Hydroxide Solution Error Help

Hey
When you say SMB is related to the anticipate gold yield...
How could I tell?
It is 350grams of Good trimmed boards and gold plated items from phones.
HCL & Peroxide 3weeks wait and filter...
My result is ....

I have SMB, the solution is around 360ml pretty small amount.
I want to add SMB maybe 2grams dissolved in 20ml water. Or maybe undissolved.

I feel there is some gold in the solution..my stannous has gone haywire. Needs a refresh, but the process was pretty structured and with the correct materials in terms of the AP, no bubbler.
Unsure why after 3rd filter have still not cleared Solution...
Is this dark solution worth adding smb? Or is there a further cleaning procedure I could attempt?

Make some fresh stannous and test it. No one can look at a solution and know if there is gold in it. That is why we all use stannous. It is our eyes when refining.

Stannous is cheap to acquire and easy to make. Plus it can see what we can’t. Any time there is a question of solution content, use it. One drop at a time means even one ounce will last a very long time. To me it is the first chemical we should learn to make and use properly.

As far as what I can understand of your frankly confusing descriptions, you have not dissolved Gold, ergo you can not have dropped non existing Gold.

Give us a step by step detailed description on what you have done so far.
Maybe then we can start giving some advise.

3 week wait "duration"
Filter and add a bit of hcl 10-20ml.
Filter a couple more times.. Then added. Smb...1.5grams each bottle
All filters set aside.
That was the process

Now I have chocolate brown solutions, to sit over night? Option1
Small amounts 250ml each bottle,

Owltech says boil until clear and the residual is the gold. Boil in HCL and water (distilled) to clean? Option 2

You are the one asking for help, and it should not be necessary to drag the information out of you!!
Man I/We have better things to do than spoon feeding people that do not give any effort to help them selves.
Rant over.

Your description is barely step by step and not even close to detailed.

Anyway there is nothing here that implies you should have dissolved much Gold, unless the Peroxide is strong +20% ish.
300 grams of PCBs like that will give around +- 1gram depending on quality, maybe less.

There might not be any Gold in solution at all, if you ever dissolved Gold it is probably cemented out inside the PCB's.

Black is not positive for Gold, dilute it 1-10 in water and test again, if it is still black dilute again.
If it is still black it is a false positive which comes from the SMB-Copper interactions.

If it is positive it is a false reading.

That's probably excess HCl.

Never 'kill' AP. It can be reused over and over.
Leave urea for fertilizing plants. Not for refining.

Done, I have a clear reading on the 1/10 After 2 drops of stannous and a Black reading on 100% solution test after 1 drop.
I added A drop of stannous at a time to a 3rd stronger solution 1/5 test and then the reading darkened after 3-4 drops . Greyish not matt black.

I have to run another test with q-tips

I always use a paper strip.
Then I dip a drop of solution to it.
Next I drip a drop of stannous next to the first but not so close they touch.
When the two drops coalesce they will show what ever color it gives, quite clearly.

Weigh the filtered dry foils next time with the filter. Tare with a new filter. That is not all gold, but gives an indication. The amount of nitric you used also is.
Then you can visually tell when most gold is precipitated. And when it starts to settle, you can see if the solution looks like it's still holding gold, test with stannous or just add a bit more and observe.

I have some gold solution. Positive on stannous test.
I placed a copper wire into solution over night, now wire is black.
Has this cemented gold from solution?
The solution is pretty clear cotton filtered.

Filtered solution looks very clear, with a lot of black powder in filter.
Any feedback appreciated
