I have a solution which I had dissolved 6.5 grams of gold flake, then precipitated. Stannous test shows no positive for gold after adding 7grams of SMB, But my test does give me a Brown swab, which I forget could either be Platinum or Palladium.
I have no reason to suspect either of these metals to have been included into my Solution..
My solution was made with HCL-Clorox, My Stannous was made from tin shot and Muratic acid.
Anyone else ever have this happen? Is there any base metals that can cause a brown swab on a stannous test?
