if I’m wearing my chlorine gas rated respirator am I good?
Sulphuric acid is an acid. The only way to neutralize the fume ( acidic), is with a base filter system. This means a limestone filter would work, but I have not seen a base filter. When in doubt, google your respirator brand, and look for the type filter mentioned. Remember that there is no one filter which does it all, other than a fume hood. A Chlorine cartridge will afford no protection against Acids.

NO! Those cartridge type of respirators are for minimal exposure or emergency escape use only.

And fumes from different acids in most of our processes are not chlorine gas at all, but something much worse. Your chlorine mask won't even know what you are breathing through it.

Nothing beats a well-ventilated fume hood and workspace. Unless it's a self-contained air supply like fire fighters wear, even then you are limited to exposure times.
