Will water react to Nitrogen Monoxide?

Do water have enough oxygen to make nitrogen monoxide turns nitrogen dioxide? Dissolving silver and copper in nitric acid will produce nitrogen monoxide or nitrogen dioxide? I'm thinking of collecting the gas every time I dissolved silver and copper using nitric acid to make another nitric acid. :roll:
 
NO + O2 ---> NO2

NO2 + H2O ---> HNO3 dilute (a little H2O2 can help)

dilute HNO3 can be concentrated up to 68% by slow evaporation,

with copper the concentration of HNO3 ( water content) can determine if NO or if NO2 forms, and to which extent which one of these gases is predominate.

when dissolving metals most of the nitric forms nitrate salts of metals (salts usually dissolved in solutions), like copper nitrate, these salts if dried can be roasted driving off NOx gasses that can also be used to form more nitric acid, and copper oxide.

NO gas is clear when mixes with oxygen in air can change to NO2 brown(red/orange) gas

Ammonia oxidation using platinum catalyst produce NO right? Why NO is not changing to NO2? All I see is white smoke, why it's not changing to brown as it leaves the flask?
 
NO + O2 --> NO2 can be a slow reaction,
air is about 78% nitrogen 22% oxygen and other gasses (my numbers may be off some I have no memory),

yes ammonia is converted to nitric acid with a catalyst like platinum at very high temperatures and pressure, the products mixed with oxygen the water as mist or steam for better contact.

ammonia is a gas, the way I understand it if this gas is mixed with water it becomes ammonium.

I think we just call household ammonia by the wrong name (ammonium hydroxide should be its name).
