I think the reason for skeptics here is because in the gold industry one finds there are many scams. For example why would a jewelry manufacturer cast a piece out of alloy gold (or dental gold) only to electroplate it over still calling it 14kt gold. It seems to me the jewelry industry long ago perfected casting alloy jewelry and developing the market that exists today. I do not see why anyone would go to the effort to cast dental gold only to plate it so it looks like regular 14kt gold.

If you can figure out why it is profitable to do this please let us know. And possibly, after a massive investment of $1 on this piece, you could sacrifice it in the process of the education of yourself and all of us.

From what I learned on my first search for 14ktGODG, it literally says it is 14kt up to 16kt gold. Said nothing about being plated jewelry
Just remember all that is on Google is not true,
there are literally millions of people out there wanting to trick you or scam you and they use all the tricks in the book and then some.
If things do not add to the value of something or has a distinct function it is likely to have some sinister or less than honorable function.

I totally agree man, literally hate using Google and I NEVER use Google Chrome. That place is full of scams and malware sites. I know this because I was redirected to Chrome. And I clicked on the link I thought was what I was looking for, this scammer took me to a **** site, a homemade **** site at that. It instantly installed malware on my phone. I went to try and lock each app with it's own unique signin, it was creepy as heck when this sick scammer probing ****o sites when I typed in my new password or passkey. This dude literally typed it in like a ghost was on my phone. He typed out the exact same thing I just typed in to that app! So I contacted my friends and family to tell them I'm about to crash my phone on purpose. But while doing this, I knew this low life piece of crap was reading everything I was typing. I got on him. Said some pretty degrading things. Cannot recall all of it but basically said he is a sorry excuse for a human being. That has no Life, no girl, probably no friends. He's probably in his mother's basement hacking people that accidentally or actually mean to hit this Link that is meant for something else. And redirects is to this homemade prono site. So this sick son of a gun is hanging out on this **** site, sets up his malicious Links. As soon as I hit the button meant for something else entirely, I had malware installed immediately. So of course I rebooted my phone, hoping he hasn't gotten inside my phone itself but just on my web browser. Thank God he wasn't in my phone. But I had to start all over

Yes, exactly! Why would someone go through all the effort to take dental gold and just make it a thin plate of gold over whatever he wants to

Exchange Google with any other search engine and Chrome with any other browser and it will be the same.
So basically do not click any link unless you understand what you do.

Just a clarification, it is not the search engine or the browser at fault when bad info or other unwanted things happen on the net.
It is first and foremost the scammers and malicious wrong doers.
But the most important security measure is between the monitor and keyboard!

Bama, since you're new to this, I'll try to help clarify some things.

You've mentioned that you've seen that this is 14K to 16K gold. I think you've gotten part of the story. Yes, gold dental alloys are typically in the 14K to 16K range. They often also contain palladium and/or platinum. These are all considered "noble" metals because they are not easily oxidized, a property that is important for a metal that is going to be in someone's mouth for years.

But no one in their right mind would ever take old dental gold, melt it down, and make new jewelry out of it for the same reason no one in their right mind takes old jewelry, melts it down, and makes new jewelry out of it. Pure gold is 24K. So, 14 K gold is only about 58% gold, with the remainder being a combination of "base" metals like copper, silver, zinc, etc. When these metals are heated to the melting point, they start to oxidize. A jewelry manufacturer can get away with melting these alloys one time and making their jewelry without too many adverse effects from the oxidation of these base metals. But each time they are re-melted, there is more oxidation, and eventually it leads to problems with the jewelry, like porosity (tiny bubbles), brittleness, etc. That's why manufacturers start with fine (pure) gold and add the base metals of their choice to produce the color and properties they desire for their jewelry.

So, it is highly unlikely that anyone would take old dental gold, re-melt it, and cast it into new jewelry.

I hope that helps.

Now, about your last post... I understand you were upset when you ran into problems on your phone when you hit a malware site. But we don't allow profanity on this forum (see Forum Rules). I've edited your post to clean it up a bit, but none of us have the time to do that on a regular basis, so I'll count on you to keep your posts clean yourself in the future.

I would say that lack of follow up report of a member who bought necklace show it was most likely dud. If he had it tested in jewelers or refined it himself he would most likely come back and told us we were wrong or something like that.
From what I recall but it wasn't mentioned also weight seems to be bit off. Like bracelet that size if made from karat gold should be bit heavier unless it is hollow. And then hollow jewelry is mostly different type and what jeweler would be making hollow bracelets from dental gold?
It simply seems off but curious mind can always go ahead and try to figure out if it is what it says it is. Mainly if acquired for 1$.
