After weeks soaking in Whink a lot of the gold started falling off the host rock. The gold particles weren't connected some fell off in chunks trying for a specimen. But we ended up with over 1- ounce so nice rock from a metal detector find.

Are you crushing those? I bet you could get considerably more for it as a specimen, than crushing it just for the Au content.

Some metal detector prospecting finds by my son in the heat. We used the jaw crusher and chain mill to grind and powder then panned. 43 pennyweights. And he gave me a 4gram plus specimen piece for my collection. More 100 plus days on the way gold fever look at all those dirty gold balls time for a melt. Great day in the gold country. Just a small pail of dirty rocks that make the detector sing.

My son and friend went back out on a 103-degree day and worked on their latest pocket. We haven't finished the cleanup but over an ounce so a great day. My photo is bad but there's micro gold all the way up the small ribs in the pan. The tailings from panning are loaded with super fine gold we are saving to blue bowl and wet micro sluice.

Just out of curiosity, why did he have to hide it?
Would you hike through the woods with $ 20.000 + in your hand? old price I would have been shaking so bad we live out in the country. One of my son's and friends are out metal detecting today on the claim even a small would be great. 91 degrees at 10 am some masticating on the brush happening will open some ground.
