What do you tell a friend that wants a "how to"? Not to mention I am still learning and can never learn it all.

Buy your friend Hokes book, Have them join the forum, tell him he cannot learn to be a brain surgeon by reading a three page post on the intranet, (and if that is how they learned brain surgery, that you would not want them doing your surgery),precious metals recovery and refining is similar, there is a lot to it, and it takes dedication and hard work and much study to learn, and then you also must practice the trade.
Well said Butcher.

I will update this topic when I have done more research with the fines that don't like to settle. When I get enough of it I am going to the tried and true desolve and test.

' One mistake I want to point out: I did not cover the acid in the cell between uses The air diluted the acid to the point of consuming the copper anode.'

When I am using electro-winning for recovery of my pregnant leach solution I remove my anode and cathode from the leach liquor whenever the rectifier is turned off. If I leave them in there when the power is off - the leach will start to dissolve them. I am guessing that is what is happening to you. I do not know why but the current keeps the acid leach from dissolving the stainless that I use for an anode and cathode.
